Meet our Members

Volentia means welcome in Latin and that's why we named ourselves CrossFit Volentia. Because we wanted to create a welcoming environment for EVERYONE to train in. We really think we've done that but don't just take our word for it. Hear from some of our members about why they like training with us:

Karanvir

“The coaches at CrossFit Volentia are excellent and really motivating! They give really good guidance and are always available to answer any questions you've got. I've got some problems with my back but the coaches know and tell me when I need to adjust my movement, so I don't get injured. That's really important to me. I need that support. I like every part of training here from the workouts, weights and skills to the other members and coaches.”

Julie

“I love the community at Volentia. Everyone is really friendly, so it's not a scary place to walk into. It's great to turn up, get a good workout and not have to use your brain too much. It makes the 6.30am classes easier! I'm enjoying learning the different weight lifting techniques as it's not something I've done before. But what I'm really excited about is the progression I can see on the gymnastic movements like pull ups. It's great to be able to see how far you've come. The only thing I'm not keen on is wall balls. They're just evil!"

Catherine

“I like CrossFit because every workout is different and there's so much diversity. It's nice to turn up to a class early in the morning and get pushed to the max. I really like the fast paced WODs too, there's no time to think you just do! I also like the social side of Volentia, everyone is really friendly, which isn't common in most gyms.”

"I joined just after the first Covid lockdown on recommendation from a family member who was a member of Volentia. Immediately I was made to feel welcome by both coaches and athletes! Gemma Harrison joined at the same time, so we used to go on random runs outside of the gym routine, both building fitness to work towards our specific goals! Nick Smith then also recognised during the tighter lockdowns that I needed to keep the momentum and motivation alive, so we ran together (within any allowed covid restrictions obviously) when the gym was closed. I can't thank the team, Nick, Gemma and all the other athletes enough, I'm fitter than ever and Volentia is my second home for life. I'd recommend it to anyone."

Ryan

"I started at Volentia back in May of this year after trying out The Open for the first time, right from the beginning I have met so many amazing people who have made CrossFit a very fun and exciting part of my day! The coaching team are excellent, very approachable so if you ever feel like you need assistance in any part of you fitness game, they’ll have you covered! If you’ve never taken part in CrossFit but fancy a go, reach out and try a session to see what you think, you’ll be hooked in no time!"

Ella

"I’ve followed CrossFit for a couple years and in September I finally decided to try it out for myself; and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to join CrossFit Volentia! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming from the minute I stepped in the box. I love the variety in the sessions and the coaches are so friendly, always on hand to give you advice and help you improve. It’s been so motivating training with like-minded people, you couldn’t ask for a better training environment "

Sharron

"After working in the fitness industry for nearly 20 years I wanted to try something new. I found CrossFit Volentia 3 years ago and I love it! I go everyday and have met some amazing people, members and coaches. I love how everyone is so inclusive, there's no egos, we all cheer each other on and have a lot of fun! We push each other to do more and achieve more. It's such a varied workout too, everyday is different. I also get to be me for that hour everyday, not mum or wife or Sharron the class instructor, just me! And I get to hang out with my friends. What's not to love?"

Karen

"Over the years I've been to all sorts of gyms. I spent 20 years in Australia where fitness is a mandatory past time! When I got back to the UK I needed something different to keep me motivated, so I thought I'd try CrossFit. Since then I've been coming pretty much 5-6 days a week. Classes are always varied. You learn new techniques and get tips to improve. The coaches get to know you and advise scaled options where needed. Saturday team workouts are fast paced and a great atmosphere. You always do more than you think as friends encourage each other. I also take part in the competitions - judging, not competing! Coming to the box is so much more than physical, it's time out for yourself. I love it!"
