“the strength I’ve developed carries over into the other movements and my overall confidence”
I first came to CrossFit Volentia as I was interested in CrossFit and it was my local box. I've been coming now for nearly 2 years.
My initial aims were to get proficient in the CrossFit moves I'd seen online, particularly around Olympic lifting. I have always been active in and out of gyms but never had any coaching so was excited to see what a class environment could do to accelerate my skills and strength.
I've most enjoyed the culture and friendships, everyone is so friendly and supportive, it's nice to feel part of a local community. When W.O.D’s get tough, it's nice to have people rooting for you and/or suffering alongside you.
The only thing I don't like is burpees, but then who does!
I really enjoy Olympic lifting, the Tuesday Barbell class being my favourite of the week. I love seeing progress in the numbers and the technique and the strength I’ve developed carries over into the other movements and my overall confidence.

“I enjoy achieving a new PB, then setting yourself a new goal each time and working on the technique you need to achieve it”
I’ve been at the box since Aug 2018, I wanted to try a different way of training and move away from just going for a 5K run or some free weights in a gym.
Initially my aim was losing some weight but this soon progressed to strengthening myself and then to learning new skills and movements I’d not been able to achieve when I first started. Over time I want to maintain my fitness levels and strength but be able to achieve all the CrossFit movements including the gymnastic ones.
I enjoy achieving a new PB, then setting yourself a new goal each time and working on the technique you need to achieve it. I Love pushing myself in the WODS and the team WODS on Saturday which often get competitive in a friendly way.
I enjoy all the erg work especially the ski erg and I like most movements apart from handstands. I enjoy the WODS at then end of the class wether it be a short quick one or more of an endurance work out.

“my search for a fun and vibrant place to exercise and meet like minded people brought me to Crossfit Volentia”
The supportive, motivational down to earth attitude of all the staff is a huge part of why I love CrossFit Volentia.
The supportive, motivational down to earth attitude of all the staff is a huge part of why I love CrossFit Volentia- they're always happy to provide advice and scaled workout options if needed and their quick thinking to keep the CrossFit classes going safely during the times of restrictions and lockdowns has been amazing.
Completing the beginner’s course and becoming a regular member has been my biggest achievement! Since joining last summer my energy levels and fitness have drastically increased, my clothes fit better and my general well-being has had a much-needed boost 🙂
The best thing about being part of #TeamVolentia is having a range of times to choose from making it very easy to attend classes regularly and always feeling motivated by the team and other members to build strength and fitness.

I wanted to find somewhere new to start training in Rugby, my search for a fun and vibrant place to exercise and meet like minded people brought me to Crossfit Volentia.
I’ve been a member here for nearly a year now and my initial intention was to get fitter and lose some weight. My aims haven't changed, I’m happy with the progress made so far but I’m still continuing on my journey
The people/community really helps with training especially if the workout is hard. Everyone is super friendly and supportive.
I very much enjoy squats, rowing and snatch workouts. The least enjoyable movements but with the desire to get better are dubs, pull-ups and handstand pushups.
