Which pieces make up the puzzle of programming at CrossFit Volentia?

“CrossFit is a strength and conditioning system built on constantly varied, if not randomized, functional movements executed at high intensity.” This is the definition of CrossFit from it’s founder Greg Glassman, so how do we piece these functional movements together to allow all of our athletes to train side by side day after day, week after week and month after month?

 

We classify all of our members as athletes whatever level they are at because everyone can train in a way to develop athleticism to live a healthier more productive life be that playing with their kids or grand kids, going running with their dog or qualifying for the CrossFit games.

 

The answer to the above question is ……… practice, a bit of trial and error and some incredible coaches who work hard every day to help all our athletes move better, get fitter and stronger. We have athletes ranging from the ages of 17 to 68 that train side by side whilst being challenged physically and mentally. To do this we generally have a plan A then plan B, C and maybe D to ensure that everyone performs the exercise they need in a way that is suitable to their own body and any limitations they may have.

Our program is based around Weightlifting, Gymnastic skills, Powerlifting and general strength work alongside a range of conditioning elements which include but is not limited to running, cycling, skipping and rowing performed in a variety of styles and intensities. Our aim is to make people physically prepared for anything that life may throw at them with the variety of exercises that we provide.

 

The program is varied throughout the year to ready our members for the challenges that they will face in competitions be that The Open, our own in house Throwdowns or other external competitions that they will compete in. True health and fitness can only be achieved by consistent and progressive training so our coaches focus heavily on the quality of all movements to help prevent injuries alongside balancing the intensity and volume of our sessions.

 

We feel that the time spent planning our program for the athletes that we see pays dividends in allowing them to continually make progress towards their goals and developing our community at CrossFit Volentia.
